Hidden Door wouldn’t be Hidden Door without a line up of some of the finest food vendors Edinburgh has to offer. Once again, we’re bringing back some old favourites and welcoming some new friends, all certain to tickle your tastebuds and keep you well fed as you explore The Complex on Dalkeith Road.
We’ve selected six of the best food vendors to serve up freshly cooked street food using the best local ingredients.
The House of Tapas has been tempting Scotland with an authentic taste of Spanish cuisine for around 3 years, and we’re delighted to have them return after a successful run at last year’s festival at the Royal High School.
With high-profile fans including the Scottish rugby and cricket teams, they’ll be serving up a wide variety of tapas, paellas, drinks and desserts. Their hardworking team come from different regions in Spain, bringing a diverse range of culinary influences and expertise. Also to be found at their regular home at Edinburgh Street Food in the city centre. Vegan options available too!

If you’ve ever visited Stockbridge Market on a Sunday it’s likely you’ll have spotted the queue for the hand-crafted gyoza from street food legends Harajuku Kitchen, who have the distinction of being on the Edinburgh street food scene before there was one!
They go way back with Hidden Door, and we can’t wait to welcome them back this year to share their authentic and high quality Japanese food. Based on the ‘Yatai’ tradition in Japan of street food vendors and the Matsuri summer festivals, expect lovingly handmade gyoza, Japanese dumplings, cooked and steamed until piping hot, crispy and juicy. Vegan options available.

Scotland’s original Chick ‘in’ Cone! Chicken Skoop’s buttermilk fried chicken, served up in highly Instagramable waffle cones, have already made their name on the Scottish street food scene.
Headed up by Liam Green, Chicken Skoop will be serving buttermilk fried chicken smothered in sauce and toppings, all packed into a waffle cone, which are freshly baked daily. They were hugely popular at the last two Hidden Door events, and have secured a top spot at the Scottish Street Food Awards for two years running.

After going down a storm in 2021 in Granton and last year at the Royal High School, Fat Flamingo will be back serving up their flavourful mix of street food staples with a twist, including tacos, nachos and burgers. Calling themselves ‘global street food curators’, Fat Flamingo has something for everyone, with a range of gluten free and vegan dishes.

Taberu proved to be a firm favourite with our audiences in 2021 and 2022. Serving up delicious Japanese food made from authentic recipes, Taberu is run by husband and wife duo Freddie and Kanna. Their mission is to introduce lesser known Japanese treats to Scotland! Dishes include Karage – a Japanese style fried chicken, as well as plenty of vegan options, which you can explore on the second weekend, all served up from their iconic green and pink ex-army trucks.

Last but not least, The Wee Green Van will be satisfying all your caffeine and sweet treat needs for the Hidden Door Festival. Delicious Machina coffee, a wide selection of hot and cold drinks, warm Belgium Waffles, cookies and cakes. Come by and say hi!
