Interim Festival Director announced

Hidden Door’s Board of Trustees have announced the appointment of a new interim Festival Director, Hazel Johnson.

Hazel has been involved with Hidden Door since 2014, volunteering in several roles including as Venue Manager and, more recently, as Festival Manager of the 2022 festival.

The news comes as former creative director David Martin moves on from the organisation, and also comes at a crucial time for Hidden Door as it grows and evolves, recovering from the impacts of the pandemic and building on its commitment to support emerging creative talent as it prepares to stage one of its most ambitious and unique events yet.

Iain McFadden, Chair of the Hidden Door Board, said: “I and the rest of the Board are pleased to welcome Hazel to the role of interim Festival Director. I know I speak for the wider team when I say I’m looking forward to working with Hazel in this new role. She has worked tirelessly on Hidden Door for many years, and her experience and commitment will ensure we can deliver a brilliant event for audiences this spring.”

Hazel said: “I’m really looking forward to working with the team, our artists and performers, and all our partners in my new role, to deliver a truly special edition of Hidden Door.’’

Hidden Door is a registered charity and is volunteer-led, organised and run. Our festival is organised and delivered by a year-round team of around 50 volunteers which expands to a team of over 200 for the festival.
