Imogen Stirling, in collaboration with Sonia Killman, presents The Boulders We Carry – an immersive storytelling performance, where poetry, narrative and electronic sound collide as themes of mythology and mental health meet. The Boulders We Carry is a vivid, intimate and immersive storytelling experience based on the mythological King Sisyphus, who is doomed to endlessly push a boulder uphill as punishment for his efforts to cheat his mortality. Reimagined in contemporary Glasgow, the piece is a commentary on a post-pandemic society coping with increased living costs and undergoing a collective mental health crisis that is not being treated with the severity or care it warrants.
Glasgow-based playwright, poet and dramaturg, Imogen Stirling, creates startling and expressive hybrid work straddling the worlds of poetry, theatre and music.
“This collection demonstrates just how creative a thoughtful and intelligent poet can get with sin. I think this is the work of a lyrical genius. It is crafted by a great poet, and crafted with emotional depth. There’s nothing like this. There’s no one like Imogen.”
