Why bands are excited to play The Paper Factory

We’ve been busy chatting to our lovely bands about their appearance at Hidden Door 2025 and the opportunity to play in the utterly unique surroundings of The Paper Factory. Here’s what some of them have been saying – follow the links for our full interview with each band…

“I’m really excited to check it out and explore and see what kind of relics I can find and accidentally pack in my suitcase on the way home. We haven’t played Edinburgh in years. It’s one of my favourite cities in the UK. It’s just really a gorgeous place. I’m excited for us to go back and play, I’m just sad that we don’t get more time there, because we’re really there just for the day” – Karla Chubb, SPRINTS

“It is our first time in Scotland, so it sounds amazing. We’re excited and nervous about the acoustics of the space” – Smag På Dig Selv (don’t worry guys, we have the best sound engineers!)

“I can’t say we’ve ever played anywhere like that, I’m very excited to see it. I love the idea of using spaces that aren’t intended for musical use as venues or studios. Something special happens when you repurpose something that has been built for purely practical reasons” – No Windows

“We can’t wait, we’ve been leaning pretty heavily into the electronic side of things for our live show, which couldn’t be better suited to a dark warehouse space. Hope you’ve got some fog machines!” – Ishmael Ensemble

“Hidden Door always has some wicked venues so we are buzzing to check this one out” – Isabella Strange

“To see art and community bringing life back into a space is always magical and I cannot wait to be part of it. I’ve always wanted to play this iconic festival and I’m extra buzzing to be playing tracks from my debut album with the band for the first time since releasing the record in April “- Mike McKenzie

“We are aware of Hidden Door’s knack at pushing the boundaries on venues and spaces and are extremely excited to play in a disused factory and become immersed in the atmosphere created” – Accident Machine

“We’re so excited to be involved, the space looks incredible, and the festival embraces everyone’s artistic vision. It’ll be amazing to see what people are doing” – Roller Disco Death Party

“We love that Hidden Door takes over these weird and wonderful spaces and we can’t wait to see what they’ve done with it!” – Bikini Body

“We can’t wait to play the Paper Factory. It’s such an interesting space and we are looking forward to experience performing in such an iconic space. We heard about the previous event being held there and can’t wait to be a part of it this year!” – SISTER MADDS

“Growing up here and feeling like you know all of it makes it exciting to utilise unused buildings and to explore the parts of it unseen” – Bee Asha
