triffid – a unique self-guided audio/visual experience

As you explore The Complex at Hidden Door 2023, be sure to look out for triffid, a new multi-disciplinary work from Ghostbag, inspired by John Wyndham’s cult sci-fi novel The Day of The Triffids.

triffid will invite audiences to explore our venue as a disquieting narrative unfolds through recorded voice, music, sound and film.

Presented as a self-guided audio/visual experience lasting around 45 minutes, discover the final room where an exhilarating short film awaits.

…a journey which explores the festival’s secret hidden depths, words and music.

…a soundtrack transporting you into a dystopian world sleepwalking towards catastrophe.

…a journey through fear, nightmare and hope.

Here’s how to experience triffid…

Before you start: download the audio file and begin when you’re ready. We recommend that you download the audio file before you arrive and bring headphones with you.

When you’re ready: start at the box office and follow the yellow triffid signs as you explore some hidden and secret parts of the grounds and building. You can go at your own pace, there is plenty of time.

At the end: the walk finishes in a final room with a short film. The triffid signs will take you to this final space. If you get lost, don’t worry. Just make sure that when the soundtrack is finished you go back to the main entrance and follow the signs leading to the final room. Don’t miss it! Please leave us your thoughts and comments at the typewriter. We really value your input which will help us develop triffid in the future.

Take care on your journey and be mindful of others around you.
