Makeness announced as headliner for The Skinny night at Hidden Door

Today we reveal the headline act for our special night in association with The Skinny, Thursday 31 May 2018.

Scottish producer Kyle Molleson, better known as Makeness, will bring a live set to the old Leith Theatre – rounding off an eclectic evening of entertainment which will also feature the screening of a cinema classic with live soundtrack.

Tallah Brash, Music Editor at The Skinny, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be working with Hidden Door this year to deliver what we think is going to make for one of the most unique experiences and nights of 2018’s festival: a live film soundtracking night featuring some talented local electronic producers followed by a live set from Makeness.

“I first caught him at Lost Map’s Howlin’ Fling festival on the Isle of Eigg in 2016 and it was the absolute unexpected highlight of my entire weekend. He played a very late night set in the island’s ceilidh hall with a full band and it was a non-stop dance party from the first note.

“His upcoming album Loud Patterns is an accomplished debut that sits comfortably on the shelf alongside the likes of Caribou and Gold Panda. After hearing his recent session for Vic Galloway on BBC Radio Scotland, we can not wait to bring his live show to Edinburgh’s Leith Theatre this May. Molleson is an immense talent and Edinburgh is in for a real treat.”

David Martin, Creative Director at Hidden Door, said “We’re really pleased to have The Skinny on board this year, joining a growing list of collaborators and co-conspirators with whom we’re building our most ambitious programme yet. Their night is bound to be a real highlight of the festival.”
