Theresa Muñoz is an Edinburgh-based poet and creative producer who mostly writes about underrepresented voices, mostly that of new migrants to Scotland, those in inter-racial relationships and women of colour.
Born in Vancouver, Canada, to Filipino parents, Theresa has published one collection of poetry, Settle, which was shortlisted for the Melita Hume Poetry Prize. Her second collection, Archivum, will be published in Spring 2025. Archivum explores historical archives and how these objects resonate with events in our lives. Inspired by archives in the National Library of Scotland, there are poems on Muriel Spark, actress Maggie Smith, author Charles Dickens and on 17th century recipes, diaries and maps. Archivum also focuses on historically marginalized and under-represented individuals in Scotland. There are poems on 19th century slave owner’s daughter Eliza Junor, the UK’s first black psychotherapist Marie Battle Singer, and inter-racial couples in Scotland.
