Samwooddoowmas is a musical project by Sam Wood that defies easy categorisation, blending ambient, techno, and experimental sounds. In 2024, he released Modes of Transportation, an album built around field recordings from diverse journeys, including cars, horses, the ocean, birds, and trains among others. samwooddoowmas records in a DIY studio held together by electrical tape and has remained highly productive, releasing two albums and two EPs in 2022. His 2023 release, Alphabet, was a tongue-in-cheek reflection on dyslexia.
Known for unconventional performances in spaces such as urinals, or playing a bass guitar with a bicycle. samwooddoowmas manipulates sound with tape loops, digital processing, and analog instruments. His live shows have included PAS in Berlin with the Scottish collective Slàinte Mhath and venues such as Piano Drome, Leith Depot and Summerhall.
Sam’s experimental approach often involves using instruments in unexpected ways challenging both traditional performance and genre boundaries.
