Something Smashing have been programming nights of exuberant improvised sound and movement since 2017. Because both dancers and musicians improvise but rarely together, organisers Tess Letham, Alma Lindenhovius Skye Reynolds and Graeme Wilson invite movement artists and musicians from Scotland’s flourishing improv scene for spontaneous encounters to experiment with each other’s practice.
These uncertain and energetic sessions push performers beyond their everyday styles; the exhilaration of movement simultaneously shaping and shaped by sound makes them a magnet for audiences seeking surprise.
Creating magic in the here and now! A live performance that brings together improvising musicians and dancers, a platform for improvisers and the audience to practise, explore, play, share, laugh, cry and celebrate the unexpected!
