Alternative duo Amelia and Fraser met on the Edinburgh music scene 9 years ago. After losing touch, they reconnected at the start of 2020 and discussed collaborating. When lockdown hit, they began writing together via videocall. Eight months later, they finally had the opportunity to jam live and decided to form Midnight Ambulance.
In February 2021, they released their debut single ‘Black Gloves’ which quickly gained the attention of national media, including BBC Scotland Introducing (premiere), BBC Alba (Single of the Week) and The Scotsman on Sunday (Artist of the Week).
They released their second studio single ‘5 AM’ in June 2021, which was selected by BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson to open his June 2021 BBC Introducing Mixtape. It was premiered on BBC Scotland Introducing and again selected as BBC Alba’s RAPAL Single of the Week. The release also resulted in a live session for Scotsman on Sunday’s award-winning ‘Scotsman Sessions’.
“Ominous, looming and with a real sense of menace, the duo conjure a unique atmosphere with Amelia’s heartfelt vocal and pounding drums front and centre, elegantly accompanied by Fraser’s playing and production. This is a serious opening salvo and promises greatness in whatever they do next. As a listener, I am excited and slightly scared!!”Vic Galloway, BBC Radio Scotland
“Dark, powerful and mysterious.”Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music
