A note from Edinburgh Short Film Festival

LIFE IS SHORT SO IT’S JUST AS WELL OUR FILMS ARE TOO!

Hidden Cinema

Once again, we are delighted to present a short film programme for Hidden Door 2016 and we’ve prepared a live-action, family and an animated programme over 3 days for this year’s Hidden Door event.

We’ve programmed a rich, varied and somewhat exotic range of short films and we’ve invited some guest films from some of our partners from across the world, including the Rio International Short Film Festival and Italy’s CortoGlobo Art and Film Festival which holds film events in both Italy and Berlin!

From Germany, we’re screening Detsky Graffam’s stunning and darkly ironic traffic island-set horror/fantasy 90 GRAD NORD, The Oscar nominated CODA by Alan Holly, Oscar nominated short GOLDEN SHOT by Gokalp Gonen as well as our 2015 Rising Star Award winner, the heart-warming and thouroughly charming short doc, A WEE NIGHT IN by our very own Stuart Edwards who’ll also be on hand for A Wee Q and A in the cinema space!

From France, we’re screening the beautifully realised 2D animated short LEFTOVER by Tibor Bánóczki & Sarolta Szabó as well as Marco Gadge’s Harold and Maude-influenced HE AND SHE, winner of best short at the Rhode Island Film Festival.

There’s also the daring, original and poignant drama short THE MAN WHO BEGAN TO DIE by Luca Jankovic which makes very good use of POV along with SINKHOLE by Samantha Dinning, a startling and moodily witty Indie drama from Australia alongside a whole bunch of contemporary short films that cross the gamut of human emotions!

Life is short so it’s just as well our films are too!
